The Museum welcomes school groups of all ages. We offer a series of gallery-based taught sessions that draw on unique collections spanning a variety of cultures from around the world. All taught sessions support the National Curriculum and are tailored to Key Stages 1 to 5. By using objects at the heart of their learning, students will obtain transferable skills, acquire new knowledge and become curious and inspired about their topic.

To book or discuss your needs please email education.bookings@maa.cam.ac.uk with the following details:

  • requested session, date and time of your visit

  • number and age range of students

  • number of adults accompanying the group (ratio of adults to students should be 1:10)

  • name of school/organisation and telephone number

  • name of group leader

  • a contact mobile phone number for the group leader which can be used on the day of the visit

We are currently experiencing issues with the email contact links across our website. Should you wish to contact us please email admin@maa.cam.ac.uk

So that we can fully support your visit, please inform us of any special access or educational needs that your students may have. A visual story and pre-visit information for visitors on the autistic spectrum is available under the Accessibility tab.

On weekdays the Museum is open Tuesday-Friday 10.00-17.00. Entrance to the museum and all taught sessions are free of charge, but we do welcome donations. Our recommended donation is £3 per pupil, which includes a museum teacher and resources.

Because the Museum is quite small and all our teaching takes place in the galleries, most of our sessions are suitable for only one class (around 30 pupils) at a time. If you would like to bring multiple classes, you will need to make alternative arrangements for the group that is not in MAA. There are several University Museums nearby, see here for more information.

Two million years of human history. One million artefacts. Countless astonishing stories.
