Transport options
Cambridge is easily accessed by road or rail and has good transport links to London and towns across East Anglia.
Bicycle
Cambridge is a ‘bike-friendly’ city with designated cycle lanes on many roads. For information on where bicycles can be hired visit You Well. A Cambridge cycle map is available for download from Cambridgeshire County Council. For further information about getting around Cambridge by bike visit Cambridgeshire County Council’s official site Visit Cambridge or Cambridge Cycling Campaign. There are a number of bike racks near the Museum.
Rail
Cambridge has good rail links, with frequent trains to and from London, Birmingham, Norwich and Stansted Airport, among other destinations. The Museum is 20 minutes’ walk from the train station. Alternatively, there is a taxi rank outside the station as well as regular buses into the centre of the city.
Bus and coach
There are regular coach services to Cambridge from many parts of the United Kingdom. National bus services stop at Parker’s Piece, 5-10 minutes’ walk from the Museum. Most local buses stop on Emmanuel Street, only a few minutes walk from the Museum.
Car
We regret that there is no visitor parking available at the Museum. If you are arriving by car, we recommend that you use one of the five Park & Ride sites on the outskirts of the city, all of which provide a frequent bus service into the centre.
Park & Ride
Facilities are situated at Cowley Road (off A14 at A10 junction), Babraham Road (off A1307 at Gog Magog roundabout), Newmarket Road (off A14 on A1303, Stow-cum-Quy interchange), Madingley Road (off M11, J13) and Trumpington (off M11, J11).
If you do wish to park in the centre of the city, the Grand Arcade car park on Downing Street is a short walk from the Museum. Alternative parking may be found at Queen Anne Terrace Car Park (Gonville Place) or, further away, at Park Street. There is limited on-street (metered) parking on Regent Street and Trumpington Road.
