About the workshop
Spend a morning taking inspiration from Japanese items in the collection at MAA, making a sketch of the objects then in a classroom near the gallery learning about the traditional Japanese embroidery techniques of sashiko and boro. The course leader will guide you through the sewing techniques in this introductory session. Each person will have the materials to make two coasters during the session with a winter star theme. Tea/coffee and biscuits will be provided during a break in the morning.
(Suitable for all levels)
Important information
- Materials that will be provided: Sashiko needle, thread and materials to make two coasters; participants will be able to take the needle and a small amount of material home with them.
- Materials that participants should bring: Notepad, pen and pencil
- The workshop fee includes refreshments.
- Please note that these workshops are designed for participants 18 years MAA runs other activities for families and young people.
