The Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology (MAA) is seeking an experienced, research-driven conservator to identify and realise research opportunities afforded by the collections in our care, and in particular research which integrates with the current move of our offsite stores.

The successful candidate will work closely with curatorial and stores move team staff to identify opportunitiesfor research, undertake select research work following from this, lead and support funding applications, and undertake and commission conservation work. She/he will further support the development of policy and procedures related to the stores move as well as undertaking triage conservation where required. The appointee is expected to build relationships with colleagues in heritage science and in relevant departments across the University (Archaeology, Zoology, Plant Sciences, Chemistry), enabling where necessary access to facilities and technical expertise, as well as with other University, national and international partners. She/he will further recruit and supervise interns andplacements.

The successful candidate should be educated to PhD level or demonstrably hold equivalent research experience.

The position is funded by the Isaac Newton Trust.
