Along with museums nationally and internationally, MAA has been closed due to COVID-19. We are now working on reopening plans which will be published in due course.

We normally welcome research visitors, by advance appointment. We hope to reopen research access to collections from 1 January 2021, or earlier if it is safe and feasible to do so. We will provide updates regarding access when we can do so, and will also in due course provide guidance regarding the safety protocols for study visits which will be in place.

In the interim, we’re keen to hear from anyone engaged in research relating to the collections. If you require information concerning objects, photographs and/or documents, please contact us by email at

research.visits@maa.cam.ac.uk

Please provide as much detail as possible about the objects you would like to see. A searchable online version of our museum database is available at:

collection.maa.cam.ac.uk

You will receive a response from one of the relevant collections managers:

Imogen Gunn (Archaeology)
Rachel Hand (Anthropology)
Jocelyne Dudding (Photographs)

Researchers are asked to read our Researcher Guidelines & Responsibilities.
