Zilan Wang: Research Associate

Zilan Wang is a research associate at MAA and executive director of the Cambridge Rivers Project (CRP). Her research interests cover East and South Asia (China and Greater Himalayan Area), focusing on collections history, material culture, visual anthropology, as well as the development of museum collections and practice of cultural and intangible cultural heritage.

As a researcher in MAA, she examines the collections from China and Great Himalayan Area at MAA and researches the history of the collections, in particular the history of collecting of European visitors to Asia in the last half of the 19th century and early 20th century.

She has co-curated, with Professor Alan Macfarlane, the exhibition ‘Xu Zhimo, Cambridge and China’ in King’s Chapel, King’s College, Cambridge, in 2014, and will co-curate exhibition ‘Ye Junjian, a Chinese member of Bloomsbury Group in the Second World War’, also in King’s Chapel, in the summer of 2015.
