Life Aboard Ship
The Heimen's laborious attempt to cross the ice gave crew members a great deal of spare time. They performed mundane ship chores, practiced on the kayak, and entertained themselves with activities such as playing music or seal hunting. The crossing also gave them ample time to worry about the ice.
