Inuit standing in front of hut
Bloch Island, Greenland
A group of Greenland Inuit men and women, standing in front of a hut. Dalgety's impression of the Inuit settlement at Upernivik was mixed: "Rowed on to the settlement. Some nice houses, many tiny wooden shacks and turf huts, nice church all buildings red, blue, green, and white, racks for keeping kayaks and sledges away from dogs. Many filthy dogs. Good main path but otherwise all dog shit...Dogs all filthy and in bad condition." (Dalgety, 15 June 1934)
