Baffin Island
The crew crossed into Baffin Island territory late in the summer, travelling up and down the eastern coast from 11th to 31th August. Baffin Island opened up new opportunities for trading and interacting with native populations, such as at the Hudson's Bay Company (H.B.C.) trading post in Clyde Inlet. This served as a social and commercial centre for the Inuit and any passing travellers (Harrington 1981). It was here that the expedition picked up much of its anthropological material.
