Retail Retold: After Hours at MAA

On Friday 3 May 2013 we held an exclusive evening reception for Cambridge’s traders and retailers with the generous support of John Lewis. Retailers were invited in to see museum objects which related to their business. Local tattooists came in to see tattooing combs collected by Captain Cook from the Pacific Islands, leather designers saw rare archaeological artefacts made from leather, and shops from the Grand Arcade came to see objects dug up during the construction of the shopping centre. John Lewis kindly provided refreshments as well as activities on the evening with a mask making table by the Haberdashery department as well as an Egyptian eyeliner counter from the Benefit team.
