Fijian youngsters will take over the museum for a programme of lively events culminating in a free public performance of a meke (traditional Fijian songs and dance).

Vosa Vakaviti, a workshop for UK-based Fijian youth, led by renowned fashion designer and dance choreographer Ana Lavekau, will include pottery making and language workshops with the group showcasing their dance skills in the afternoon.

This event is held in association with Chiefs and Governors: Art and Power in Fiji, one of the museum’s current exhibitions, which displays outstanding historic and contemporary material, including exquisite ornaments, carvings in wood and whale ivory, and beautifully patterned masi (barkcloths) and pottery.
