Silver Tamata. 1990s. Cyprus.

A tama (votive) is placed at a Greek Orthodox shrine to accompany a wish or prayer. Most wishes concern illness or injury, and the offering is in the shape of the affected body part or, sometimes, a person. These tamata depict a kidney, eye, arm, heart and a man in a suit.
