Ceramic Cast Hug. Bonnie Kemske.
These sculptural artworks were made by and for the embrace; the artist used her own body to cast the ‘space’ of a hug.
As you lift, handle and embrace them, you will discover that they can fit against your body in different positions and in different ways.
What initially feels hard and heavy may come to feel snug instead. What feels cool will rapidly warm to your own body temperature. And what appears as a rough surface may have a pleasing underlying smoothness.
The artist invites you to physically engage with the sculptures, remembering that although made to be touched and handled, the artworks could be damaged if not handled with deliberation and care.
